Kinematic Coupling¶
Imagine two rigid objects with specially shaped surfaces that allow them to fit together in only one specific position and orientation. This type of connection is known as a kinematic coupling. It relies solely on the geometry of the surfaces to constrain movement, without requiring any additional locking mechanisms.
Our baseplate and toolchanger use this mechanism.
We have discussed this subject at this Discord thread: https://discord.com/channels/1042462799772782613/1113149635507277914
You can learn more about this mechanism from:

There are also pseudo kinematic couplings, and surely many other kinds you can learn about.
